Maxis announced The Sims 4 this morning, coming to PC and Mac in 2014. More details are due later today, EA said.

EA’s put up an official announcement post on its website:

“The Sims franchise is fueled by the passion and creativity of its millions of fans around the world. Their continued devotion to the franchise ignites the fire of creativity of the team at The Sims Studio, driving them to continually improve and innovate on one of the world’s most successful simulation game that has sold more than 150 million copies worldwide."

TheSimsHub, a Sims fan site, has put up an extended version of EA’s announcement which reveals that the game won’t require players to be connected to the internet in order to play it.

“The Sims 4 celebrates the heart and soul of the Sims themselves, giving players a deeper connection with the most expressive, surprising and charming Sims ever in this single-player offline experience,” it reads. “The Sims 4 encourages players to personalize their world with new and intuitive tools while offering them the ability to effortlessly share their creativity with friends and fans.”

Maxis’ recently released SimCity was subject to a lot of negative reactions because of the game’s always-on internet requirement.

We have hidden a dozen small eggs all over xSIMS and you should find them! The finders get a wee something to show off. The hunt continues until the 3. of April (8pm GMT).

Today we released a new version of our Censor Grid Remover / Nude Patch.

This version is fully compatible with the vanilla game version 1.5x and higher as well as University Life.

If you do have an older version of this mod installed you can just overwrite it with this new version.

This download gives your female Sims a new nude skin. It will replace the EA Standard-Skins (Barbie Skins) or any previous xSIMS skin of all Sims from teen to elder. This actually means that you'll get a full nude neighborhood. Don't worry they wont go to work naked but they'll show all details given by nature e.g. when showering.

This new installer will also work fine with the Steam version of The Sims 3!

This Nude Patch / Censor Remover removes the censor grid / blur in 'The Sims 3' that you see when your Sim gets undressed like when taking a bath.

This version is for game versions v1.5x and up including the last addon "University Life".
